Imagine walking into school and seeing clean corridors, empty dustbins and no plastic wrappers on the ground. That is the kind of school I would love to see every day. This World Cleanup Day, I would encourage students to work together to keep our school clean by being responsible for the waste we create.
First, we could start a “Think Before You Throw” campaign. Students could create colourful posters and reminder signs encouraging everyone to use dustbins properly and make sure no wrappers, tissues or pieces of paper are left behind. We could also remind each other to avoid wasting food and paper and to use both sides of a sheet whenever possible.
Students could also take part in a class challenge to see which class can reduce unnecessary waste during the week. We could observe what type of waste is being produced and think of simple ways to reduce it. Most importantly, we could politely remind our friends to dispose of their waste responsibly and take care of the spaces we share.
These simple actions could make a big difference. A clean school is healthier, safer and more pleasant for everyone. Most importantly, World Cleanup Day would teach us that keeping our environment clean is a shared responsibility. While our school staff take care of cleaning, we can do our part by preventing litter, reducing waste and encouraging others to make responsible choices.
