Dear Teacher,
If you could read my mind, you’d see that there’s a lot going on behind my face. I don’t always say what I’m thinking out loud, but here are a few things I wish you knew:
I know I can be irritating at times, and I’m sorry for the moments when I get annoying or distracted. So many times, I come to your desk wanting to talk to you, but I get nervous or confused and end up doing something completely different instead. I never mean to be difficult.
I actually care a lot. Even when I pretend not to care about a grade or act like I’m not trying, I really do want to do well and make you proud.
Bad days happen. If I’m quiet or seem out of it, it usually has nothing to do with your class. Sometimes I’m just carrying a heavy mood from home or feeling stressed about life.
Your quick compliments mean everything to me. When you write, “Great job!” on my paper or simply ask how I’m doing, it brightens my whole day.
I’m still trying to figure things out. Your class isn’t just about passing tests—it’s also where I’m learning how to become more confident in who I am.
Thank you for being patient with me, even on the days when I forget to show it.
From,
Hassan Atique
