October 19, 2023 was an exciting day for the students of Elementary Campus PECHS Karachi. Students from Grade I till V lined up to board the buses for the much-anticipated field trip to the TDF Magnifiscience Centre, Pakistan’s first contemporary and interactive science centre designed to provide hands-on learning experiences to people of all ages and backgrounds. This space is also a zone of discovery and learning, providing information on the indigenous flora and fauna.
The students were welcomed by the team of TDF Centre and were taken to explore various activities at the learning centre e.g. “World Within Us” where they learnt about the marvel that is the human body, then Mirror Maze and the Light Room, where they were fascinated by optical illusions and the power of light. They were then taken to explore the wonders of Renewable Energy, challenge their brains with puzzles involving the principles of Mathematic, Forces and Magnetism as well as learning about Communication technology. The Science Garden enabled students to enhance their psychomotor skills encouraging adaptive thinking, challenging their balance and mapping skills. There were wonderful play-integrated learning opportunities provided by the TDF Magnifiscience Centre to our students. After having an exciting experience our students were given lunch by the Centre. The décor of the café provided an interesting ambiance to relax and think about science and sources of food.
It was indeed a magical experience for our students which urged them to re-think about how science, mathematics and physics work in our daily lives.
