“A child’s first teacher is its mother” – Peng Liyuan
Parents, especially mothers are considered to be an essential and integral part of the school community as they are affiliated with their children’s learning and development happening in school. They also play an exuberant role in their growth and progress with learning.
Keeping ‘parents as partners’ approach in mind, Focused Sessions for the mother’s of Early Years, Lower and Upper Primary were organized at the BECP to get them acquainted with the teaching and learning strategies, classroom practices, tools and techniques being used to make learning experience more interactive, fun and effective for the students. Academic procedures, assessment criteria and types and areas of experiences etc were also part of the fruitful discussion during the sessions. The teachers made the sessions participative and interactive by explaining and demonstrating a variety of activities along with engaging the mothers to be part of those activities. A resource corner of each subject was also set up to enlighten mothers about the kind of resources used to deliver course material in ways that keep students engaged and assist in practicing different sets of skills.
This was a perfect opportunity which will uphold the mothers in working collaboratively with the school for boosting the buildout and growth of their children.
