On this significant day, we gather to honour not only the valiant warriors who stand on the battlefield but also the indomitable spirit of resilience that they embody. Living for the peaceful tomorrows of others is arguably the noblest aspiration one can pursue. Those who selflessly lay down their lives, offering their very blood in the quest for a brighter and more secure future, are indeed the most esteemed among us. The Pakistan Armed Forces exemplify such nobility, functioning as a venerable institution dedicated to the relentless defence of our motherland against both internal discord and external adversaries.

Defence Day, or Youm-e-Difa, is commemorated annually on the 6th of September, serving as a solemn occasion to reflect upon and pay tribute to the sacrifices rendered by our armed forces over the years. This day stands as a poignant reminder of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding our independence and ensuring our safety in an increasingly volatile world. Across the nation, various events unfold, radiating a palpable sense of passion and patriotism as citizens come together to celebrate the valour and sacrifices of those who protect us.

At Beaconhouse Elementary Campus PECHS, the observance of Defence Day was marked on September 06, 2024 by a vibrant assembly that captured the essence of this occasion. Students from Early Years sang national songs and waved the Pakistani flag in the air, students from Lower Primary, and Upper Primary participated enthusiastically in a choral performance that resonated with heartfelt tributes to our brave soldiers, they also prepared different speeches  paying homage to the sons and daughters of the soil who have defended our freedom.

As the assembly reached its culmination, our esteemed School Head, Ms Sumera Savez, addressed the students with profound eloquence. Her words were a clarion call, instilling a deep sense of love, pride, and patriotism within each child present. She articulated the importance of recognizing and appreciating the sacrifices made by those who have come before us, urging the students to carry forth the legacy of valour and dedication. The atmosphere within the school premises was electric, echoing with the spirited slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad,” as the collective voices of our young scholars united in a heartfelt expression of national pride and gratitude.

In celebrating Defence Day, we not only honour our military’s sacrifices but also reaffirm our commitment to uphold the values they fought for—unity, resilience, and an unwavering love for our homeland. It is a day that transcends mere remembrance; it is a celebration of our identity and our collective responsibility to strive for a peaceful and prosperous future for generations to come.
