“Look after the land and the land will look after you, destroy the land and it will destroy you.”
It’s that time of the year again! Earth Day is just around the corner and it’s time to get involved in protecting our planet. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd worldwide to promote environmental awareness and the protection of the planet. BSS Elementary Campus celebrated Earth day with full zeal. A whole week of April was dedicated to mother Earth and the students celebrated our shared home by learning how to best protect it and create a brighter, healthier future for all people. In alignment to the annual Earth Day theme addressing one of the most pressing topics of our time: climate change, students took part in a range of activities. So, what’s the purpose of Earth Day? The goal of Earth Day is to inspire the world to take action to conserve the planet and its natural resources, address environmental issues such as climate change, and promote sustainability. The students were made aware of the actions that cause different types of pollution, such as littering, burning things, cutting down trees etc.
Different levels did different activities like Toddlers and Pre-Nursery students showed love to the planet by Earth buddy craft and making collages. Nurseries showed their skills by doing the reducing, reusing and recycling activity. Little kindergarteners made posters to create awareness about the importance of minibeasts. Grade IV and Grade V students made different posters to show their love for mother Earth. Grade I students did an amazing project of seed planting. Grade II and III students made their promises to save the environment and land and also made a beautiful Earth day pledge tree. It was indeed an overwhelming week filled with engaging activities performed by all the students.
