Every year, on 15th September, people around the world celebrate International Dot Day. It is a special day that encourages children to be creative, confident, and brave enough to make their mark.

International Dot Day is inspired by the wonderful book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. The story is about a student named Vashti who believes she cannot draw. Her teacher encourages her to make a simple mark on a piece of paper. Vashti makes a dot, and that small dot becomes the beginning of her creative journey.

The story teaches us that everyone has creativity inside them. Sometimes, all we need is a little encouragement to discover our talents.

On Dot Day, students took part in fun and creative activities. They created colourful dot paintings, designed dot patterns, made dot-shaped crafts, or worked together on a large classroom display. Some students even use dots to create animals, flowers, planets, and imaginative pictures.

These activities help children express their ideas and understand that there is no single way to be creative. Every dot, design, and idea is special!

The Message Behind the Dot

International Dot Day reminds us to:

  • Be creative: Try new ideas and explore your imagination.
  • Be confident: Believe in your abilities.
  • Be brave: Do not be afraid to make mistakes.
  • Encourage others: Help your friends discover their talents.
  • Make your mark: Use your unique ideas to make a positive difference.

Every Mark Matters!

A tiny dot may seem simple, but it can represent the beginning of something amazing. Whether we draw, write, paint, build, or share an idea, we all have the power to make our mark.

This International Dot Day, let us celebrate creativity, encourage one another, and remember that every great idea can start with one small dot!
