For the past three years, I have been serving as an Instructional Coach at the Elementary Campus, Block 3, PECHS. This journey has been rooted in continuous learning, collaboration, and a shared commitment to improving teaching and learning for our students.
A key milestone in this journey was my selection for the Instructional Coach Accelerator Program (ICAP)\u2014a second-tier course designed specifically for Instructional Coaches to deepen their leadership capacity and strengthen coaching practices at a systemic level. I was honored to be the only Instructional Coach among the eight ICs from Cluster S-06 selected for this opportunity, facilitated by expert trainers from the PDSI team at the Head Office.
Spanning three months through a six-day hybrid model, ICAP strengthened my ability to lead professional learning, support teachers through structured coaching, and apply evidence-based strategies in real classroom contexts. The program emphasized reflective practice, action research, and designing impactful, team-based learning experiences\u2014ensuring that professional development translates into meaningful classroom change.
The highlight of this journey was my Action Research project:
\u201cEmpowering Teachers to Implement Active Learning Strategies Through Instructional Coaching.\u201d
\"\"This study addressed a key challenge in education\u2014moving beyond one-time training sessions to ensure that teaching strategies are consistently implemented and sustained in classrooms. Through continuous coaching, reflection, and data-informed practices, I worked closely with teachers to embed active learning as a regular part of their instruction.
The feedback I received described the study as exceptional, highlighting its success in transforming active learning from a theoretical concept into sustained classroom practice through structured instructional coaching.
I am proud to share that my research was selected among the top 10 Action Research projects from the Southern Region for display at the Action Research Expo. This highly competitive selection, from hundreds of submissions across the Beaconhouse network, reflects the rigor, relevance, and impact of the work.
The Expo, held on 3rd March during the Section Heads\u2019 Meeting and hosted on \"\"vFairs, provided a valuable platform for educators across the organization to engage with research-driven practices, reflect on insights, and apply learning within their own contexts.
Being part of this platform was a meaningful experience. It reinforced the importance of building a culture where teaching practices are guided by reflection, collaboration, and evidence.
