Debating activities promote problem-solving and innovative thinking. They enable the development of essential public speaking and critical thinking skills. Primary II, PECHS held an English Debate Competition<\/strong> to enhance the public speaking skills of the students and develop their innovative thinking and public speaking skills.<\/p>\r\n

The Debate Competition began with the Debate Mentorship Programme<\/strong> where students from the BCCP Campus Debating Club were invited to mentor our students and prepare them for debates.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

The young, talented debaters gave our students several pointers on writing and preparing their debates, strategies and public speaking.<\/p>\r\n

The Mentorship Program was then followed by the qualifying round of the English Debate Competition where students gave their debates in their classrooms on the topic “Is technology making you less productive?”<\/strong> Four students were selected from each class for Round 2<\/strong> of the English Debate Competition which was help on the 9th of December 2021.<\/p>\r\n

The qualifying students were excited as the day for their speeches drew near and eager to prove themselves to make their parents and teachers proud. The students enthusiastically gave their arguments on the topic “Is technology making us less productive?”\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \"\"\u00a0 \u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\r\n

Such was the zeal, enthusiasm and the enormous talent of our students that the judges had a very difficult time determining the winners. Twelve students were selected overall for the final Round of the debate competition.<\/p>\r\n

Anticipation hung in the air as the day dawned on the 15th of December for the final round of the Inter-Section English Debate Competition<\/strong>. Students were enthusiastic as they were encouraged on by their parents and their proud teachers to deliver their debates. The judges invited were the winners of the The Beaconhouse College Program ICON winners, Angela Sajid, Afia Irfan and Umair Junaid. It was an honour to have such talented people to judge our young learners for their debate competition.<\/p>\r\n

The suspense was palpable as the judges announced the winners of the competition from each category, for and against the topic. Shields and certificates were awarded to the winners and special recognition, while books and certificates were given to the rest of the participants.<\/p>\r\n
