In our classroom, leadership isn’t limited to being the group leader. Students get opportunities to take on different roles such as Director, Choreographer, Prop Manager, Dialogue Coach, Presenter, and Timekeeper…. each role giving them a chance to contribute and lead.

Recently, my students were preparing for a role-play performance. They were practising their dialogues, arranging props, and working together to prepare for their presentation. On the day of one of their practice sessions, I had to attend a training workshop and was away from campus.

I wondered how the practice would go without me.

But my students took over.

They organised themselves, practised their dialogues, managed the props, and continued working together with confidence. The attending teacher later shared everything with me, and I was genuinely so happy not simply because the practice went well, but because my students had demonstrated real leadership.

They didn’t wait for someone to tell them what to do.

They took responsibility.

That moment reminded me that Leader in Me is not just about teaching leadership habits; it is about creating opportunities for children to experience leadership. When students are trusted with meaningful responsibilities, they begin to see themselves as capable decision-makers, problem-solvers, collaborators, and leaders.

As teachers, we often think our presence is essential for learning to happen. But sometimes, stepping back gives students the space to step forward.

That day, I wasn’t in the room but my students showed me that they were ready to lead.

And perhaps that is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher: not just teaching children, but watching them grow into leaders.

One of the most meaningful parts of teaching is watching students discover that they are capable of much more than… Continue reading From Learners to Leaders: When Students Take Charge

[1

post-1117","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","entry
["GET
