My Amazing Trip to Baku, Azerbaijan
By a 7-Year-Old Traveller
When my parents told me we were going to Baku, Azerbaijan, I was excited, but I didn’t know that this trip would teach me so much about another culture. I thought I would simply see new places, eat different food and have fun. Instead, I came home with a whole new way of looking at the world!
A City That Cares About Cleanliness
One of the first things I noticed was how clean Baku was. The streets looked neat and well looked after, and there were beautiful green spaces and trees around the city. I was surprised to see how carefully people looked after their surroundings.
It made me think that keeping our cities clean and green is everyone’s responsibility. We may speak different languages, but we can all care about the place where we live.
Everyone Was So Friendly!
Another thing I loved about Baku was how friendly and welcoming the people were. Even though I could not speak their language, people smiled at us and were happy to help. I realised that you don’t always need the same language to be kind to someone.
Their friendliness made me feel comfortable and showed me that kindness is something every culture can share.
The City Taught Me About History
My favourite part of the trip was visiting the historic places. I was amazed to see how beautifully old buildings and important places had been restored and protected.
As I walked around, I started to understand that these buildings were not just old stones and walls. They were pieces of history. People had taken care of them so that children like me could see and learn from them in the future.
It made me realise that architecture can tell the story of a culture.
The Roller-Coaster Ride I Will Never Forget!
Of course, my trip wasn’t all about history! I also went on a roller coaster, and it was
AMAZING!
When the ride suddenly dropped, I screamed so loudly that my parents laughed. My heart was racing, but when it finished, I wanted to go again!
That experience taught me something unexpected: sometimes trying something new can change the way we see ourselves. I discovered that I could be braver than I thought.
Perfect Summer Weather
The summer climate was another wonderful surprise. The weather was not at all warm and was extremely pleasant, making the city’s exploration even more enjoyable. I could walk around, visit historical places and enjoy the outdoors without feeling uncomfortable.
What Did I Learn?
I learned that different cultures can have different languages, traditions and buildings, but we can still share the same values, kindness, respect, courage and care for our world.
