From Classroom to Screen: My Grade Two Experience

For the past few days, my Grade Two class has moved from face-to-face teaching to online classes, and this journey is still ongoing. At first, it felt a bit challenging because young children need attention, support, and regular interaction. Teaching through a screen was new for both me and my students, but we are slowly becoming more comfortable with it.

During this time, I am learning how to adjust my teaching style every day. I keep my instructions simple, use colorful visuals, and make sure lessons are short so students don’t lose focus.

To make learning fun, I include small videos and games such as quizzes, counting activities, and quick questions. These activities help keep the children interested and happy.

I am also focusing on student interaction. I ask questions, give each child a chance to speak, and include activities like “show and tell.” This helps students feel connected and confident, even while learning from home.

At Beaconhouse School System Elementary Campus, we are encouraged to be creative, adaptable, and supportive, which makes it possible for students to continue learning no matter the circumstances.

Although this journey is still ongoing, it is teaching me to be flexible and creative. It shows me that learning can continue in any situation when we properly support and engage our students.
