BEYOND THE BLACKBOARD THE MENTORS WE NEVER FORGOT

Teachers are arguably the most important members and
foundations of our society, because they shape young minds,
spread wisdom, give values and they create a future for the next
generations.
In my lifetime I had the privilege of receiving education under the
guidance of the best mentors. Mentors that made me into the
person I am today. Teachers don’t just teach you the subjects that
are assigned to them but they give you lessons about life. But there
always is that one teacher that leaves an everlasting impression on
you.
For me that teacher would be my 7th grade Urdu teacher, Miss Khula. She was someone who without a joke changed her student’s lives. I was one of those students who was under the umbrella of her wisdom and guidance. A girl who was always shy and extremely reserved, talking to other people or simply in front of them was no less than a task, she made me rise above all my fears.
Her biggest quality was handing her students confidence that never really left even today. I still remember when she called me up to her desk and asked me why I never spoke, to which I simply replied without giving it a second thought that I was afraid, for that answer Miss Khula gave me her tiniest smile and said
“fear kills more dreams than failure ever will’” and quietly went back to
her work. After that confidence became my middle name and I never looked back.
Thanking a teacher is a small gesture that is always appreciated
but not near enough what they deserve.
