As students of IBDP, we all seem to agree that we were able to start this rollercoaster of two academic years, with good relationships and connections with each other. Since it is a niche section, this bond is highly significant and is cherished by us, and has led to various friendships and affinities. One of the reasons for this was our Welcome Party organised by the management early in the start.
The party was hosted by the school at the Sandspit Beach house. All of us were extremely thrilled to spend some time together and get to know everybody outside of the classrooms. The energy and excitement were at its peak throughout the day, either while it was during our bus travel to and from the location or while at the shore.
Soon after arriving at the venue, loud music, dancing, snow sprays and, most importantly, wide smiles became the highlights of the scene. Despite the ongoing height of
enthusiasm, it was time for breakfast. The delicious Halwa Puri along with steaming hot Chai made this moment even more special flavourful! Before we stepped in the water, we settled in and took loads of pictures to remember and conserve this moment.
We had various different CAS Activities planned for the beach, starting with the water fight for which we had water guns and balloons. All of us engaged and had fun trying to ditch water attacks on ourselves but target others as much as we can. Building sandcastles was the other competitive activity that all of our four houses took part in, and competed for the win. All house members came together and coordinated tasks to make the best Castle for the most house points. Waves periodically washing parts of our sand structures made the challenge a bit more difficult, but we managed to work through it. In the end, the best sandcastle was named, the rightfully awarded team was House Skyler!
Some other competitive games that we played were volleyball and tug of war. While we raced along the shore and rode camels and horses too. This variety of activities gave everybody a chance to participate in something they enjoyed. All of us had our favourite moments but it is also true that even just sitting on the sand, with our friends, while the waves came at us, was one of the highlights in itself.
Later on, we also did a beach clean up and competed inter-house. The ones who filled up most garbage bags after cleaning their allocated areas would succeed. In this competition House Iris was the one to win. Although, all participants were appreciated to have participated in the activity.
