The month of Rabi-ul-Awal brings joy, hope and respect to the hearts of Muslims all over the world. It is a time to learn more about the Holy Quran and Sunnah, improve our relationship with Allah and be grateful to him for sending the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to guide us. Muslims believe it is the month that Allah showers down countless blessings upon us. A common practice among the Muslim community is to arrange Milaads in which various duas and surahs are recited and the Durood is recited as an ode to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

This year as well, IB-DP students arranged a Milaad in honour of this month. It took place in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the campus on the 15th of October 2021. The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After that, each participant came to the stage to share a Hadith of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and what it teaches us, while also sharing how they have implied it in their lives. In addition to this, some students blessed us by reciting beautiful Naats in their soulful voices. The highlight of the event was a student from a different religious community sharing their experience living with the Muslim community. They shared that they feel accepted in this community at this age, due to the people around them. This further amplifies the belief that we as Muslims should be respectful of other religious communities and make sure that they feel accepted and comfortable around us.

In short, this milad proved to be very enlightening for everyone present at the time and left an impact on everyone, reminding them of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and ways to implement them in our everyday lives.
