“The third Wednesday of October marks Global Dignity Day, an initiative dedicated to educating and inspiring youth to better understand their self-worth. This day also emphasizes the values of kindness, understanding, tolerance, and compassion, while defining dignity as the state or quality of being worthy of honor and respect.
Global Dignity Day has its origins in 2005 when it was first established at the World Economic Forum. This annual event, along with its associated international non-profit organization, Global Dignity, was founded by three influential figures: Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, author and philosopher Professor Pekka Himanen from Finland, and American entrepreneur and charity founder/CEO John Bryant.
Today’s youth should celebrate Global Dignity Day to cultivate empathy, respect, and cross-border understanding. It promotes the values of equality, human rights, and inclusivity, empowering young people to become compassionate global citizens dedicated to building a more harmonious and just world.”
