Every year, on November 20, World Children’s Day is observed to commemorate the Day of Declaration of the Rights of the Child put forward by the UN General Assembly in 1959. The day is globally celebrated to promote the rights of children in the world.

At Beaconhouse Metropolitan Campus- Girls, an interactive discussion with students of Class 8 was carried out regarding the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Once the concept was clear, students were asked to write letters to any child in the world who has experienced violence in forms of abuse, exploitation, and discrimination. They wrote touching letters to these children whose rights have been violated.  Several letters were addressed to those who have been forced into labour practices due to armed conflict, being homeless, or suffering from religious differences, minority issues, or disabilities.

These letters were displayed on a board in the main corridor for other students to read and grasp the concept of children’s rights and understand why encouraging, motivating and empathizing with every child is our moral obligation.
