Paying his tribute to the memory of the poet, Mr. M. A. Jinnah said:

The message of Iqbal has reached the farthest corners of the world. He was the greatest interpreter of Islam in modern times.”

Iqbal day was celebrated, on November 9, 2021, by the students of BMC-Boys, with utmost zeal and fervour. Allama Iqbal has inspired hearts and souls of not only the Muslims but also the people of all religions around the globe. He was a poet, a philosopher, a politician, a barrister and a scholar in British India who is rightly credited with having inspired the Pakistan Movement. He is considered one of the most important figures in Urdu literature, with literary work in both Urdu and Persian languages.

The students of BMC-Boys paid homage to the great poet of East through captivating performances on the stage, in a special morning assembly. Iqbal’s poetry was recited by the students and his divine message was impressively relayed.

In all world literature, it is difficult to find a specimen that stands up to Iqbal’s poem “Jibril-o-Iblis” (Gabriel and Satan). Lucifer has been the subject of numerous poems and plays in European literature but none reaches the heights of Iqbal’s poem. It seems that Iqbal has packed much more into his poem, and with greater profundity than that which Goethe, Valéry, Bernard Shaw and others have sought to say about Satan through their plays. In its underlying meaning, this poem is a microcosm. Here, philosophical contemplation—on myths spread over ages, on the central beliefs of great religions, the mystery of the cosmos, and the enigma of existence—transforms itself into such a ray of creative reflection that it illuminates each word of the poem with a new insight. This poem was presented potently through both the characters, portrayed by Abbas Khan of IXM-Yellow and Yousuf Bin Afaaq from IXC-Yellow. The performance became the highlight of the event and received a huge applause, from the audience, because it was truly moving and enlightening.

The students also expressed their feelings and sentiments about the great poet’s contribution, in inculcating the message of “khudi”, in the youth.
