“The tyranny that Kashmir has had to endure
Deserves never ever be forgotten, be unknown
Inside our hearts enshrouded we have kept
Wounds, as such, too ugly to be shown”

Today, the staff and students of Beaconhouse Primary & Middle Years Branch stand together by our Kashmiri brethren “in their valiant struggle to achieve their legitimate right to self-determination.” For more than seventy years, our Kashmiri brethren have been denied their right to be sovereign. In these seven decades – they have made countless sacrifices – countless mothers have lost their sons – enough blood of theirs has been spilled until now. Nevertheless, the struggle goes on.

On this occasion, students of Grade 3 Red performed a tableau on the song, Kashmir hai shah rug Pakistan ki. It was followed by Grade 3 Blue’s song, India Ja Kashmir se Nikal ja.

Maaz Ahmed Siddiqui of Grade 8 Red gave an inspiring speech about Solidarity with Kashmir, whereas Ekrash Zafar of Grade 8 Blue mesmerized the audience with his influential voice as he read a poem about Kashmir.

The assembly ended with a prayer for our Kashmiri brothers.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“The supplication of a Muslim for his (Muslim) brother in his absence will certainly be answered. Every time he makes a supplication for good for his brother, the angel appointed for this particular task says: ‘Aameen! May it be for you, too’.”

Hence, let us pray for our Kashmiri brothers and sisters that they are soon able to enjoy freedom, to be able to unite and celebrate together with their families. (Ameen)
