Making the most of the First Parent Teacher Meeting

1st Parent Teacher Meeting 2021-22Together parents and teachers can build a successful working relationship to give the students best learning opportunities. For this purpose, a parents teacher meeting (PTM) is held term-wise to discuss the progress of the students.

To facilitate the parents and to ensure their attendance, PTM was held on Saturday during convenient hours from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. and parents were informed a week ahead to plan for it beforehand.

MeetingThroughout the term, Teachers collect important information about their students’ strengths and weaknesses on daily basis. This can include academic information, social skills, level of confidence, participation in extra-curricular activities to level of motivation etc. During PTM, that collected data was shared with the parents of the concerned child to keep them involved in the child’s learning process happening at school.

 

Teachers educated the parents about the students’ academic and social progress who kindly took the insight from a positive state of mind and learned essential tips to have an active role in their child’s education from home. In return, the teachers also gained in-depth understanding of the students from their parents’ perspective. Hence, valuable data was collected equally to be utilized positively for the students’ growth.

Parents and teachers also shared their intended goals for the students with each other and discussed how these could be achieved through shared collaboration and support.

Images of various school events were shared on the projector during the PTM in the waiting area as well.

Parents were given a chance to share their valuable feedback in writing with the Class-teacher at the end of the meeting. This is an important practice which the teachers utilize to understand their strengths and address the areas which needs to be improved.
