Dignity is an inner feeling, a sense of self-worth, a belief in the worth of others.

We live lives of hope, optimism, and compassion with dignity. It is driven by a general moral compass. It is the belief in our fundamental humanity and is shared by everyone everywhere on the earth.

Everyone, everywhere is urged to put aside their differences and acknowledge their shared humanity on Global Dignity Day. In order to educate individuals of all ages about dignity—innate everyone’s and equal worth—Beaconhouse Primary and Middle Years branch frequently observe Dignity Day with inspirational and engaging events.

To kick off the celebrations of Global Dignity Day, Grade Five Red students gave a lovely performance in the morning assembly, expressing the theme of Dignity and emphasised the value of “United we stand strong and divided we fall.” Children of the support staff were also invited to participate in the assembly. The guests proudly shared speeches, poems and naat with the whole school. They were thanked for their participation with small gifts arranged by the BPP students. The smiles on the faces of those children were worth all the effort.

Throughout the week, the students took part in various activities to uplift the spirit of Dignity Day. They wrote pledges, made bookmarks, and recounted and reflected upon stories that involved the protection of dignity. Students arranged a thankyou brunch for the supports staff and presented thankyou cards to them. They also wrote beautiful poems to express their stance on dignity and to play their part in bringing the much-awaited change that we all wish to see.

All these activities successfully instilled a positive, inclusive and interconnected sense of value in the young students that will guide them as they grow.
