Leadership is a choice that lies in the space between stimulus and response.
-Stephen R Covey
They say that foremost learning happens in the classroom, but we have witnessed some brilliant learning opportunities for students at BSS I-8/I-9 Campus happen both in and outside the classroom, during the process of electing the Student Council 2022-2023.
The campus truly endorses the idea that a Student Council empowers our children by providing an opportunity for them to engage in an integrated partnership with teachers, and school management in the activeness of their school. Also, it is to give students an opportunity to evolve leadership in them by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit, the student council is the voice of the student body.
They help share student content, interests, and concerns with the school-wide community. BSS I-8/I-9 Campus had a thorough procedure of electing their council members in order to ensure that the student on campus is getting opportunities to acquire communication, planning, and organizational skills, which will be of benefit to them in their future lives.
Children were short-listed on the basis of pre-shared criteria with them that had all the attributes like performance in academics, extracurricular activities, punctuality, discipline, etc. The school’s management ensured that the elections were free, fair, and across the campus. The whole procedure of campaigning and voting not only helped students to enjoy their voice and choice but also to understand that the elections are the only democratic way and allows elected executives a right to claim legitimately in order to represent the student community.
The whole school thoroughly enjoyed the day when the results were announced and started preparing for the deluxe Investiture ceremony. The preparation itself again was a wonderful learning experience for students and allow each grade level to participate.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest; Mr. Khawaja Haider Latif – RD Northern Region along with the guests of honor; Ms. Mussarat Jahanzaib – Head of Satellite Town Boys Branch and Ms. Shazia Ibrahim – Head of Primary and Girls Branch Satellite Town.
Mr. Haider extended his appreciation and motivating wisdom to the young leaders and honor them with their sashes. The class prefects for both terms were honored with their badges by the other two guests of honor. Proud parents of the elected members not only witnessed the success of their child but also warmly appreciated every student and their effort.
The ceremony had some beautiful performances by students from different grade levels.
The council members had their first meeting right on the very next day after the ceremony where they started planning to contribute to the school’s vision and mission which shows that they already have “A LEADER in ME” approach embedded in them so deeply.
We wish all the best to the newly elected council members and congratulate BSS I-8/I-9 Campus for displaying a practical demonstration of what Stephen Covey said:
“Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.”
