Global Dignity Day is an international day that educates and inspires everyone to spread honour and respect. Beaconhouse School System I-8 & I-9 Campus celebrated it through interactive and fun-learning activities throughout ‘Dignity Week’ at all levels. The main objective of celebrating dignity throughout the week was to inculcate the values of tolerance, respect & acceptance in our students. It was an initiative to promote awareness about human dignity which is the most outstanding achievement. Beaconhouse made cross-curricular links and arranged multi-dimensional activities to make students realize their rights and responsibilities towards human beings. The teachers advocated students that everything on this planet earth is beautiful and respectable.
Students of Early Years till Grade 2 made ‘Dignity Posters’ in their Art Lessons. They participated in the ‘Dignity Walk’ inside the school premises while holding posters and placards articulating human inclusion, equality, and a greater sense of shared humanity. Students demonstrated why dignity is important. They determined the importance of learning what type of person they should be in real life. During their learning and experiencing a celebration of dignity day through different activities, they learned how respect and dignity go side by side, and how to have a healthy social and emotional life.
Students of the Early years made a heart shape craft as a takeaway. They presented it to their family members, teachers, and support staff. Not only this, but they also made Dignity Cards for the support staff including Janitors, Aaya Bajees, and security guards to honor and show respect to them and say “Thank you” for playing a supportive role in their lives. Kindergarten students did a story time in which they had a discussion on the dignity rules within the classroom and the play area. The rules were shown on the board and students were encouraged to read them independently.
Grade 1 made a ‘Dignity web on the board to learn the vocabulary and virtues related to human dignity. The students wrote messages for the support staff on sticky notes and pasted them on the dignity wall. Moreover, Grade 2 students also made a dignity book separately in which they colored the pictures showing every person’s equal rights. A discussion session with Senior Headmistress, Senior Mistress, School Coordinators, Admin, and support staff were also conducted in which they all shared their crucial responsibilities with the students.

It was a thorough learning experience for the students of Beaconhouse School System I-8 & I-9 Campus which involved kindness, understanding, tolerance, and compassion.
