Learning with festivities – Lifestyle at BSS/I-9 Campus
These days, when individuals overhear “Extra Circular Activities” and “Skill Based Learning”, the first name that bangs into their minds is probably “BSS I-9 Campus”. BSS works on the vision that an amalgam of learning and extra-circular activities plays an imperative role in an individual’s life. Non-Academic learning has no age bars and defines the inner passion of the students that must be followed. It helps the students to mingle with each other irrespective of their grade or section and could become a true learning community.
“When it comes to extracurricular activities, many children are getting too much of a good thing.” -Carl Honore
BSS I-9 Campus had two options of club activities for the students to choose from; Web Blogging Club (The Young Bloggers Gala) and Kidspreneur Club (Smartpreneurs Fair 2023!). Keeping the habit of “begin with the end in mind”, all the activities in both clubs were designed to achieve the end goal.
In the Web Blogging Club, students shared their understanding of the importance. They searched and were introduced to different types of blogs written on various topics. They were introduced to edublogs.org.net to
start writing blogs. They learned to use all the tools given on the dashboard, manage to comment on each other’s blogs, and show appreciation for the comments received. This club activity inculcates the tradition of appreciating each other’s work and enhanced the research and reading ability of students.
One of the prime rewards of getting started with entrepreneurship at a young age is the opportunity to learn important skills such as teamwork, networking, problem-solving, critical thinking, innovation, self-discipline, etc. All these skills can help our students in their school routine and later in life. During Kidspreneur Club’s activities, students were engaged to learn five basic skills of entrepreneurship: finance Skills, Communication skills, leadership skills, time management, and sales.
The culmination of both the clubs was organized on a massive level and parents were invited too. Students had their stations to show their blogs and let parents register with them to build a community of bloggers on one platform. Students from the Kidspreneurship club had their stations with different items (food, cloth, decoration pieces, etc.) to sell and make cost-profit analyses. Students also had their shop/brand names and got the chance to advertise their stations almost 2 weeks prior to this event.
Mariah Suleman (Tinypreneurs), Ms. Ayesha Kashif (School Blog POC – Beaconhouse Gulshan Campus) and Ms. Beanish Ali (School Blog POC – Beaconhouse Primary and Middle School PWD) graced the campus with their presence and judged the outstanding performance of our students in both the clubs.
It was indeed a day full of colors, excitement and joy showcasing not just the learning of our students during the clubs lessons but also their passion to be skillful and reach the top of the world. Parents, visitors, teachers, and students thoroughly enjoyed the whole event and were truly impressed by the talented young bloggers and Smartpreneurs.
Surely they are ready to step towards the journey of valuable learning through hands-on experience!
“Learning is not the product of teaching, but the product of the activity of the learners!”
