“No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth.”
– Robert Southey
As the school year almost comes to an end, there’s an aura of bitter sweetness all around Beaconhouse I-9 Campus as not only does it signal the conclusion of the academic year for students in Grade 7, but it also marks the departure of their Grade 8 seniors. Students in Grade 7 planned a memorable farewell party to commemorate their time together and wish them a heartfelt farewell.
The evening packed with a wide variety of events that highlighted the skills and friendships between the two grades. The Qawali performance, which resonated was without a doubt the event’s high point. Everyone was celebrating the relationships that had been created over the years, thanks to the contagious energy of the Bhangra dance.
Students in grade 7 had carefully prepared a set of activities to maintain the excitement. Every game they played, from riddles to the thrill of popping balloons, drew them together with laughter and friendly competition, strengthening the memories they shared.
Seniors from grade 8 also made a contribution to the occasion via their heartfelt
admiration for their teachers and fellow juniors. They performed a lovely song, and then they read some lovely poetry, each line expressing their mixed feelings of excitement for what lies ahead and nostalgia for the past.
The awarding of titles to each Grade 8 student was one of the evening’s best moments. They received emotional remarks and round of applause in recognition to their time on the campus. The “Lady of the Evening” and “Lord of the Evening” announcement gave the events a touch of excitement while honoring those who had made a lasting impression on their peers.
The walls came alive with a montage of memories from the past and teachers’ touching messages as the
evening went on. Every picture and every phrase brought back memories of the adventure they had together and the relationships that would last long after they graduated.
“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
– Irish Blessing
This farewell was indeed with an understanding that even though they were leaving each other behind, the memories they made together would last a lifetime. It became evident as they thought back on the evening’s events that this farewell marked not just the end but also a fresh start with exciting new experiences and friendships to come.
