Introduction:

As educators, we understand the significance of instilling healthy habits in young minds. At Beaconhouse F-10/4 Early Years & Lower Primary Branch, we believe that promoting healthy eating habits is essential for the overall development of our students. In this blog post, we’ll share our journey of cultivating healthy habits in our Pre-Nursery students through a fun and engaging activity.

The “Healthy Treat” Activity:

Our Pre-Nursery team designed an interactive activity called “Healthy Treat: Sip, Chop, and Munch” to educate our young learners about the importance of healthy eating. The activity was carefully planned to include a variety of fun-filled tasks that would engage our students and encourage them to develop healthy habits.

Blindfolded Food Taste Test:
One of the highlights of the activity was the blindfolded food taste test. Our students were blindfolded and asked to identify different fruits and vegetables based on their taste, texture, and smell. This activity not only helped our students develop their sensory skills but also encouraged them to try new foods.

Parents’ Food Relay Race:

Our parents had a blast participating in the food relay race. The winners received a healthy snack, an apple wrapped in a special healthy version, as a souvenir.

Video Q&A Session:
In this interactive session, our parents were seated and shown videos of their children guessing different foods. The videos were played to see if the parents really knew what their children liked or disliked. This activity encouraged parents to engage with their children’s eating habits and develop a better understanding of their preferences.

3-Minute Healthy Snack Challenge:
Our students worked alongside their parents to prepare a healthy snack within three minutes. This activity promoted teamwork, time management, and creativity while teaching our students and their parents about the importance of healthy snacking.

Parental Engagement:
We were thrilled to see our parents actively participating in the activity alongside their children. They worked together to prepare healthy recipes, asked questions during the Q&A session, and cheered on their little ones during the food relay race. It was heartening to see the bond between parents and children strengthen over a shared passion for healthy eating.

Fruit-astic Fashion Show:

Our students participated in a creative fashion show dressing up as fruits and vegetables in front of their parents. This fun and engaging activity emphasised the importance of healthy eating while promoting teamwork, creativity and confidence. It was a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to celebrate the benefits of nutritious food together.

Certificates of Appreciation:
At the end of the activity, we awarded certificates of appreciation to our students and their parents for showcasing healthy eating habits throughout the week and actively participating in the activity.

Testimonials from Parents:

We received overwhelming feedback from our parents, who appreciated the effort we put into promoting healthy eating habits in our students. Here’s what some of them had to say:

“I was impressed by the variety of activities and the engagement of the students. It was a great experience for my child and me!” – Parent of a Pre-Nursery student

“I loved the way the activity was structured to include parents. It was a wonderful bonding experience for my child and me.” – Parent of a Pre-Nursery student

Conclusion:

Our “Healthy Treat” activity was a huge success, and we’re proud of our Pre-Nursery students and their parents for their enthusiasm and participation. By cultivating healthy habits in young minds, we’re not only promoting physical well-being but also encouraging our students to develop healthy relationships with food. At BKI F-10/4, we’re committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for a happy, healthy, and successful life.
