Project-based learning is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is believed that students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.
Based on four key phases of Project-Based Learning: project launch, inquiry, development (which includes critique and revision), and presentations, BKI E 11 Grade 2, launched its second phase of PBL Term 2 session 2022-23. The project started with the entry event based on a new English reader, Wonderful Water. Topic was Conserve Water, Conserve Life. All of the major subjects including English, Environmental Education, General Knowledge, Urdu and Islamiyat have been inculcated and interlinked with the main theme of the project to ensure sustainable learning and long term retention.
Philosophically speaking, there is not much of a difference between water for life and water is life. It’s a known fact that life is not possible without water. That’s the only thing that makes Planet earth superior to other planets in this gigantic universe.
The vision for the Conserve Water project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the simple to complex, direct or indirect use of water and why it is important to conserve water to save the future of the planet, because life can only be sustained with water. By studying the dynamics of water and the basic necessity of water for life, the project aims to identify the key factors to save water. The difference between the use and wise use of water is not very thin to create. All it needs is a conscious and deliberate effort to act as a responsible dweller of the planet earth.
The project also aims to make children understand the concept of renewable and nonrenewable energy flow in nature and ecosystem.
Through this project our children learnt that regardless of their age, they have a big responsibility on them to conserve natural resources and use them wisely. The effect of human intervention on natural resources and their availability. Sustainability of marine life also depends on how we act.
