I’m sure everyone of us has heard of the famous proverb,
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”
Maintaining an outstanding balance between academics and co-curricular activities is crucial for a successful educational experience. While academics provide knowledge, a sport teaches the invaluable traits of teamwork, leadership, persistence, hard work, respect towards others, enhancement of one’s skills and most importantly acceptance of failure and success. It is a prime objective of Beacon House to ensure that both academics and extra-curriculars go hand in hand so children can succeed in all spheres of life.
On 22nd December,2022 BeaconHouse F-8/2 Primary Campus hosted its very own “Annual Sports Day”,a day full of energy and intensity!!! This energy had been a part of the campus for almost a month prior to the event, Intense practices and rehearsals were held. Every student was allocated one of the four respective houses; Kestrels, Eagles, Falcons and Hawks .
On the main event the students from all 4 teams participated in a number of sports and competed against one another in a healthy and competitive manner. The event also comprised of a number of students from all grades showcasing their skills in various activities. The boys took the lead in Taekwondo while the girls displayed a colourful and energetic Zumba dance performance. Moreover every class had its own set of games and performances which ranged from races to hula hoop and aerobics performances demonstrated by the junior classes. The students participated in all activities with full zeal and zest, working enthusiastically towards the victory of their respective houses. The air around campus roared as students chanted the slogans for their respective houses. Along with the students, parents and teachers were also seen cheering enthusiastically for the children. The event concluded with the victory of the Falcons.
In addition, a cosplay event for all grades was hosted. The theme was “Super Heroes” and all the students participated enthusiastically, dressing up as their favourite heroes from “Superman” to “Spiderman” and “Batgirl”. The students also exhibited performances of their favourite super heroes. The school lit up with brightly coloured capes and masks as the students channeled their inner super hero.
The Sports Day was conducted in a healthy and competitive manner to ensure the students inculcated in themselves the crucial qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and team spirit.
Overall it was a very fun filled and memorable day for both the students and parents likewise.
