Go Falcons Go!           Go Hawks Go!

Go Eagles Go!             Go Kestrels Go!

I could feel the magic and celebration in the air where children chant to cheer up their teammates and everyone experienced goosebumps. I couldn’t stop walking rather ran to the ground to become part of that most spirited crowd. It was BKI’s Intra-House Sports Competition Day and all the children from primary years were wearing bibs to represent their houses. Four angles of the school’s sports ground were occupied by these champions who were all geared up to win a trophy for their house.

BSS completely comprehends the role of sustaining both physical and mental wellbeing with the understanding that sports have grown into a full-fledged career owing to the varied pluses it comes with. Owning BSS’s philosophy, the BKI F-8/2 branch supports their apprentices to actively participate in more sports activities alongside their educational quest and makes them realize that the prominence of physical education has also emerged with the growth of career opportunities in this sector.

I believe that when a kid starts using their parent’s smartphone from an early age, there is an amplified chance that they will end up getting addicted to using gaming applications which can work as a distraction towards their education. Here comes the importance of sports that can be established in a young child’s life by getting them involved in physical activities and ensuring that they find a balance between their studies, sports as well as their time spent on digital gadgets.

This Intra House Sports Competition was evidence that children must have been involved throughout the year in all these and various more physical activities plus practice sessions as children were active, knew the drill and the rules of every game they were participating in. I was so pleased to see that it just required a whistle by the Sports instructor and the children knew the clue.

There were competitive and tough games like:

  • dodge the ball
  • tug of war
  • sprint hurdle sidewise
  • formula one
  • friends rally
  • football

I always like watching Renaldo during champion leagues but seeing these power pack 5 graders playing football on that day made me appreciate that Pakistan had boundless talent in every field and every sport you may think of and BKI f-8/2 branch is working hard with full ownership to polish each and every child according to their possessed talent. Children were appreciating each other and no one was leaving the game zone being at the losing end. They knew that they all have worked hard; participated and competed well to win and this is all that matters in the end. The most important refresher for me and a reminder that I got from the spirit of these children was a display of a gesture and accurate reaction to both defeat and win.

The teacher’s tug of war was like a cherry on the top. It was a thorough fun seeing that little fun-filled competition held between teachers.  The purpose definitely was to promote sportsmanship amongst the participants as teachers are their role models. Teachers at BKI always live the moment in front of their children to make them experience and learn through real-life examples.

In the end, trophies were distributed but it was not only “HAWKS” the winning house celebrating, it was the whole school celebrating with the full spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.

So join BKI’s energetic clan and sing out loud people:

I was built to be the best
Number one and nothing less
Leave me to my destiny
I have waited patiently
I have a vision’ oh I believe
I know I can count on me

So stand up for the champions
For the champions stand up
Stand up stand up
