Fashion & Textile Club: Session (1st Term)
Activity: Exploring Tie & Dye Techniques – Patterns in Motion
The Fashion & Textile Club held its first session, “Exploring Tie & Dye Techniques – Patterns in Motion,” on Wednesday, 29th October. Proposed by Fatima Ayub and Alizey Ehtisham (President and General Secretary), along with Gul and Fatima (Vice President and Vice General Secretary), and supervised by Miss Maryam Saleem Akhtar, the session offered students a vibrant and creative learning experience.
To ensure easy access to water and avoid any mess, the activity was conducted outdoors, near the kitchen area. This setup made it convenient for students to rinse, dye, and dry their fabrics with ease.
Participants explored the art of tie and dye using plain fabric, stitching, folding, lentils, threads, and other resist techniques. They created spiral, stripe, crumple, and circular designs, observing how the dyes spread beautifully across the fabric to form unique patterns.
Students used bold and bright colors, allowing their designs to stand out with energy and contrast. The vibrant hues reflected their creativity, excitement, and willingness to experiment with color combinations.
Beyond the final outcome, the session emphasized the importance of patience, precision, and focus, essential in both textile work and everyday life. Students embraced process-based learning, gaining hands-on experience and building confidence in their creative decisions.
Overall, the session was both enriching and enjoyable, giving students meaningful exposure to tie and dye techniques while allowing them to express themselves freely through fabric, color, and pattern
