Bleaching T-Shirts Workshop – The Bleach Project
Art Attack: Session 1
In collaboration with the Fashion and Textile department, a unique and creative workshop titled “The Bleach Project” was held under the Art Attack banner. Proposed by Ayeza Khan and Hamza Junaid (President and General Secretary), along with Fatima Ayub and Alizay Ehthasham (President and General Secretary of Fashion & Textile), and supervised by Miss Maryam Saleem Akhtar, the event took place on Thursday, 11th September.
This interactive session allowed students to repurpose old or surplus clothing using bleach as a medium for art. Participants brought T-shirts from home and were taught how to use bleached water with paint brushes to create designs. The event was held at the Lions Gate area, with different stations for packing and hands-on learning.
The activity promoted sustainability by encouraging upcycling, and donation certificates were awarded to participants. Around 75–80 students attended, guided by student artists and faculty. Old Pana flexes were used creatively for sitting arrangements. The outcome was not just beautifully altered garments but also a deeper appreciation for experimental art and environmental consciousness. Students learned to think outside the box, gaining both creative confidence and practical skills in textile transformation.
