WSC, also known as The World’s Scholar Cup, was an event hosted by the International School of Lahore on the dates of 29th and 30th of October. I along with my fellow partners was privileged enough to represent our school and was able to acquire a set of awards.
WSC is a two-day international academic event that includes team debates and collaborative writing assignments in a team of three people. Every Scholar Cup has 4 categories to take part which comprise Team debates, Scholars Challenge, Collaborative Writing and Scholars bowl. It was a very eventful competition with various categories to compete in and a bunch of awards to win. I loved how positive the cultural aspect of the event was in the sense that they replaced the term ‘losing’ with ‘lollipopping’ and not only that but to promote optimism and self-improvement among the delegates, they even gave awards to those who did not win anything and, in my opinion, it was effective in boosting the morale of the delegates who faced defeat.
One of my favourite moments from the competition was debating as debating with other participants is always interesting and challenging. It was also great fun for the team members to share ideas and research on topics for it to be successful however, this all could not have been made possible without the effort and guidance of my English teacher, Miss Ifrah Babar, through her counselling we as a team able to secure awards.
In consensus, I would say that The World’s Scholar Cup is worth joining because it is pleasant to meet people and it really improves your management, teamwork, research, organisation, writing and debating skills.
