9th November is commemorated as Iqbal Day. He is known as the ‘Poet of the East’ and the person who dreamt for a separate Muslim country. Our students presented a special morning assembly to honour his work and the heritage he left for the youth in the form of his poetry. He was a man of vision and his poetry focuses on three main things that are applicable for generations to come; The Holy Quran, Khuddi and Youth
“The new world is as yet behind the veil of destiny
In my eyes, however its dawn has been unveiled.”
The progarm began with the recitation and translation of the Holy Quran followed by the recital of his poetry along with speeches on his life and work. Our students emphasised on the lessons he gave for the youth and Muslims.
The assembly presentation ended with a song by our young guitarist and singer Rubas Asif from class 8 who sang; ‘Lab pay aati hai dua ban kay tamanna meri’ in a different composition of his own.
We are blessed to have his work with us to help us remember the goal of life as Muslims. It is important that his powerful words are used to improve our destiny not just as Muslims but as humans as well as he rightly said that
“Words, without power, is mere philosophy.”
