Our Pre-Nursery learners recently marked a beautiful milestone in their early learning journey with the culmination of the beloved story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This special celebration was thoughtfully integrated with their âKnowledge and Understandingâ lesson on The Five Food Groups, making it both meaningful and memorable.
Throughout the week, our young learners immersed themselves in the fascinating journey of the tiny caterpillarâwatching with wonder as it transformed day by day. With growing confidence, they eagerly recalled the sequence of events, describing how the caterpillar ate different foods and eventually blossomed into a beautiful butterfly. It was heartwarming to see them express their understanding with such enthusiasm and clarity.
What made this experience even more enriching was the connection to healthy eating habits. Learners explored the five essential food groupsâdairy, meat, grains, fruits, and vegetablesâthrough engaging, hands-on activities. From identifying different foods to sorting them into the correct groups, each child actively participated and demonstrated a budding awareness of nutritious choices.
The classroom was filled with excitement as children interacted, shared their thoughts, and celebrated their learning together. Through songs, storytelling, and playful exploration, they not only strengthened their knowledge but also built confidence in expressing themselves.
