The best way to introduce plants to preschoolers is to give them hands-on experience and let them get their hands dirty in planting the seeds!

In order to inculcate awareness among the little champs, LMA 6E carried out a planting activity at all the three levels of Early Years. Through this activity our students experienced the satisfaction that comes from caring for something over time.

The children scooped the soil into their disposable glasses until it’s almost to the top. After that they used the fingers to pinch the seeds and placed them in the soil. They then gently pushed some soil on top of the seeds, tucking them in like a blanket. They were explained how the seeds need water to grow. Finally, they misted the soil, like gentle rain, through spray bottle. Their plants were labeled with their names.

After planting the seeds, children were told about the importance of taking care of them and observe their growth. They took their plants home. Parents said the kids continued to nurture them, making sure they get plenty of water and light. What a valuable life lesson!

BENEFITS ACHEIVED BY THE STUDENTS :
- Children gained responsibility as they took care of the plants.
- They learnt about the growth process.
- They developed a better connection with the earth.
