Beaconhouse College program Multan Campus held the ‘Futsal 2021’ tournament on 24 September. Opening ceremony was initiated by the recitation of the Holy Quran by BCP AS student Hammad Kashif followed by the National Anthem. A total of seven schools participated in the sporting event. A message of hope and a Covid-19 free future was delivered by our very own Mr. Sarfraz Ahmad.
Students of BCP and the participating schools were thrilled at the opportunity of playing team sports after such a lengthy hiatus. Covid-19 stole such a simple pleasure of student life, but no more. Thanks to stringent vaccination schedules our teams returned to the field once more.
Sports are a fun filled and healthy way of building team spirit. They help develop strong bonds and good health. Camaraderie and that special energy that is the stuff great leaders are made of visited the pitch again after such a long time. The enthusiasm of all students and faculty involved was palpable.
The BCP Reapers were led by our very own Sports Club President Hamza Raees and Vice President Zayan Mushtaq. The first round match was a nail biter. Contested between BCP and Jinnah Highs the decision point boiled down to penalty shots. The final score being a 3-2 win for BCP. What a close match it was, the crowd rocked to every motion of the ball, hanging onto their seats during the showdowns which were nothing short of a tour de force.
The BCP team marched on to claim victory after victory. Our brave team yelled in unison ‘once more unto the breach’ and finally, in a hotly contested final, BCP managed to overwhelm City School. The brilliant BCP team won an astounding 5-0 victory. The crowd went wild with joy, Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmed our Physical Education and Games Teacher looked on with glowing pride. And in a display of team spirit and sportsmanship, so did the defeated team.
With these memorable shots and plays the ‘Futsal 2021’ closing ceremony was presided over by Madam Saadia Yaqub and the guest of honor Madam Asifa Tareen. Awards of clay casts of the BCP school building were distributed to the participants as souvenirs along with medals and other prizes to the winners. But above all, new friendships and bonds of sportsmanship were created in the wake of the tourney, with BCP Multan Campus leading the charge.
