A National Language is one of the distinguishing features of the identity, culture, and history of a nation. It serves as a driving force behind the unity of the nation’s people, as it is the source of common communication. As responsible citizens, therefore, we at BSS recognize the indispensable significance of our national language, Urdu.

BCP A-levels Multan for this very reason celebrates Urdu Week each year to instill a love for the Urdu Language in their students, to commemorate the greatest Urdu poets of all times, and to honor their work. This year was no different, as the students bustled about the campus on the 30th of November, the campus itself was doused in literary spirit with traditional floor seating adorned with colorful bolsters. Under the supervision of Ms. Samar Batool our Urdu teacher, the event officially commenced at noon and came to an end at 2 pm. The event began with the remembrance of Allah followed by a soulful Naat.  After which, the students gave a comprehensive introduction to the foundation and formation of the Urdu language, succeeding which, was the ‘Shairi Asloob’ of some of the great writers of the subcontinent like Allama Iqbal, Sahir Ludhiyanwi, Mirza Ghalib, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

This segment was followed by some speeches that stirred powerful debates like how the pandemic was a foe to any country’s economy and how the attainment of knowledge is not at the mercy of books. Students then presented drama “Araam O Sakoon” that served as comic relief the impact of which was further enhanced by the performance of a heart-touching song of Mehdi Hassan reminiscing the past. Towards the end of the Urdu Day students of both AS and A2 took part in the Mushaira, a poetic symposium where poets gather to perform their works
