“If you can speak, you can influence. If you can influence, you can change lives”

The right combination of words and gestures can inspire people, spur them into action, and get them to dedicate themselves to a cause. Speaking effectively is defined as speaking in such a way that your message is clearly heard and, if possible, acted upon. There are two main elements to speaking effectively: what you say, and how you say it. To make our students learn speaking effectively, an Urdu Declamation contest was held at Upper Primary, Walton Campus. The purpose of the declamation contest was to inculcate in our students the skill of public speaking and the ability to address the audience with confidence and enthusiasm.

The first round of the contest was held in the classes, and selected students went into the final round of the competition. Since it was 100% participation from all levels of Grade 3s, 4s and 5s, our students participated with zeal and passion.

For the final round, selected students from Grade 3 spoke on the topic: “SNC and hum masoom bachay”. The guests thoroughly enjoyed their style and enthusiasm. Mohammad Moosa and Mohammad Haroon ( 3-Yellow) secured the 1st position. For 2nd position, Inshaal Zahid and Zoya Sami (3- Green) were the winners and for the 3rd position, the prize went to Haniya Zahra from Class 3 –White.

The final Urdu declamation round from Grade 4s was won by Mohammad Esa (4-Pink). Mohammad Humayun Raheem (4-Silver) and Fatima Imran (4-Pink) secured 2nd position.  The 3rd prize was given to Ali Usman (4- Violet) and Areesha Abdullah (4 – Yellow).

A school declamation competition is a unique opportunity to practice the public speaking, as it is one of the many soft skills one should practice to excel in future career path. Grade 5s, displayed remarkable debating skills and made the parents and teachers proud. At the final round, Zainab Sohail (5-Gold) secured 1st position, Zoya Umer (5- Blue) and Syed Ali Akbar (5- Pink) won the 2nd prize. The 3rd position was secured by Azka Usman (5-White ) and Anoral Naeem (5- White). Our honorable judges from other campuses and our prestigious Principal  Ms Tehmina, appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers and motivated them to participate more in such activities for personality building as someone rightly said,
“Never let yourself be a product of your surroundings, but encourage your surroundings to be a product of your personality”
